Were Jesus, Horus, Krishna, Buddha and Mithras the Same Being?

Or did Christ not even exist, with his story simply borrowed from ancient, almost identical beliefs?

He was born to a virgin on December 25th. Later in life, he became a great teacher, spreading his word with his twelve disciples. He performed miracles and three days after his death he rose again from his tomb.

Known as the “Good Shepherd” his resurrection was celebrated by his followers every year. He was considered "the Way, the Truth and the Light, the Redeemer, the Saviour, the Messiah." He was associated with the lion and the lamb and to his followers, his sacred day was Sunday.

His principal festival would later become known as Easter and his followers celebrated a Eucharist. The story of Jesus? No, the story of Mithras, a Persian deity who lived 600 years before Christ. At the time of Christ, the worship of Mithras was the most popular of the pagan religions. He was especially favoured by soldiers.

Buddha born of a virgin

Now let us look at the Buddha who lived about 500 BC. He was born of the virgin Maya, the “Queen of Heaven”. He performed miracles, walked on water, healed the sick and once fed a multitude from a small basket of cakes. He taught chastity, temperance, tolerance, compassion, love, and equality. He spoke of a “kingdom of righteousness”.

Buddha was called the "Good Shepherd", the "Carpenter", the "Infinite and Everlasting." To his followers he was the "Saviour of the World" and the "Light of the World."

Thousands of years ago, the Egyptians worshipped Horus. His story is almost identical to that of Jesus. He was born in a manger on December 25th to the virgin Isis-Meri. His coming was heralded by a star in the East and his birth was attended by three Wise Men. As a child, he preached in the temple and was baptised when he was 30 by “Anup the Baptiser”.

With his twelve disciples at his side, he performed miracles, walked on water and raised a man called El-Azar-us from the dead. He was crucified, buried in a tomb and resurrected. He was called the "Way, the Truth, the Light, the Messiah, God's Anointed Son, the Son of Man, the Good Shepherd and the Lamb of God”.

Finally, there is the Indian deity Krishna. An early spelling of his name was Christna. The son of a carpenter, Krishna was born of a virgin surrounded by angels, shepherds and wise men. After his birth, he was pursued by a tyrant who ordered the slaughter of thousands of infants.

He was baptised in the river Ganges and went on to perform many miracles and wonders, including raising the dead and curing lepers. He used parables to spread his message of charity and love.

Some versions of his story have him crucified on a tree between two thieves. He rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven.

His disciples called him “Jezeus”, which means “Pure Essence”.

Krishna 'will return'

Followers of Krishna believe he will return to Earth one day to do battle with the “Prince of Evil”.

It is pretty clear that the tiny cult of Christianity which took root in the Middle East and blossomed throughout the world borrowed heavily from earlier traditions. If that is so, it is possible that Jesus never even existed and that the Christian Church is founded on ancient so-called pagan beliefs..

But there could be another explanation, based on a belief in reincarnation. Is it possible, that Horus, the Buddha, Krishna, Mithras and Jesus Christ are one and the same Being, a great teacher who was sent among us again and again to follow the same path and bring us the same divine message?

If that is the case, with the world going to hell in a handcart, we certainly need him here now.
